Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Mr. Piyush Goyal highlighted the growing India-France partnership as a key driver of innovation, technology development and investment opportunities, stating that collaboration between the two countries is creating new avenues for co-innovation as India advances towards the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Speaking during engagements in Nice as part of the India-France Year of Innovation, the Minister noted that discussions with government representatives, business leaders, investors and members of the innovation ecosystem focused on expanding cooperation across trade, technology and emerging sectors. He emphasised that India’s long-term development vision and “France’s 2030 strategy” offer strong areas of convergence, creating opportunities to strengthen collaboration in innovation-led growth, advanced technologies and research-driven industries.
The two countries have adopted the India-France Innovation Roadmap 2030, which will serve as a framework for enhancing cooperation in critical and emerging technologies, strengthening trusted technology ecosystems, promoting academic and research exchanges and supporting sustainable economic growth. According to the Government, innovation is increasingly viewed as a key driver of economic resilience, technological sovereignty and sustainable development by both countries. The partnership is expected to generate investment opportunities in future-oriented sectors while supporting solutions to global challenges. The visit also resulted in several bilateral outcomes related to innovation and advanced technologies. Separately, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi held discussions with French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron on expanding cooperation across defence, technology, space, security, counterterrorism and innovation, further reinforcing the strategic partnership between the two nations and creating opportunities for deeper economic and technological engagement.
